Scott Twynholm is a Scottish composer and musician.
With a focus on melody and sonic texture his work often spans the worlds of contemporary classical and experimental electronic composition.
Scott started his professional music career in bands. He was an integral member of Looper with Stuart David of Belle and Sebastian and released solo records under the name Metrovavan, whose first release picked up single of the month in Record Collector Magazine.
Recent solo work includes Tekstura, a series of textured piano-based compositions which was released in 2021 through London-based Blurred Recordings and Orbits, an electronic instrumental suite in seven movements which pushes his textural experiments further by incorporating slowly shifting tape loops with a palette of piano and electronics, will be released by contemporary classical label Bigo & Twigetti in December 2023.
His band songs have appeared in numerous films including Palme d’Or nominated The Edukators and Cameron Crow’s Vanilla Sky. Film scores include Alasdair Gray, A Life In Progress, acclaimed multi-media artist Rachel Maclean’s feature debut Make Me Up, and Martyn Robertson’s award-winning 2022 documentary Ride the Wave, which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival.
Recent film work includes Bill Douglas, My Best Friend a feature documentary which premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival and BBC Network flagship TV series Murder Trial for Firecrest Films.
