To Rococo Rot

The palindromically named To Rococo Rot are a trio from Berlin-Dusseldorf consisting of Stefan Schneider and brothers Robert and Roland Lippok. They formed in 1995 initially to provide a soundtrack to an art exhibition of Rolands, but went on to release their first album later on that same year on the Kitty Yo label. Since then they have released several records on City Slang before signing to Domino for 2004’s ‘Hotel Morgan’.

The TRR sound is quite unlike any other: Sumptuous and refrained instrumental sound-scapes underpinned by lugubrious bass-lines. The group strike a balance between abstract electronica and contemporary dance music, weaving intricate melodies amongst intimate backdrops whilst always maintaining their trademark warmth and elegance.
