Gabriel Prokofiev is a leading force in British alternative classical music through both his genre-defying music and his Nonclassical label and club nights. Prokofiev’s groundbreaking work Concerto For Turntable And Orchestra was premiered at the 2011 BBC Proms. The 2014 Proms saw a performance of his Violin Concerto – 1914 featuring virtuoso violinist Daniel Hope.

The grandson of Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, Gabriel is immersed in the classical tradition which he combines with a love of electronic music and non-traditional musical experimentation. It was this combination of interests and the dedicated team at Mute Song that attracted Prokofiev to the publisher.

Prokofiev is currently working on an electronic album and juggling international orchestral commissions including a second concerto for turntables, a saxophone concerto for Branford Marsalis and a new set of 21st Century ‘animals’ in response to Saint-Saëns. In 2015-2016 compositions by Gabriel Prokofiev will be performed by Seattle Symphony, Moscow State Symphony, Bergen Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Orquestra de Sevilla, Orquestra de Porto and others.
