Beth Jeans Houghton / Du Blonde
Beth Jeans Houghton is a British musician, composer and multidisciplinary artist from Newcastle upon Tyne whose work spans songwriting, visual art, animation and video direction. Beginning their career with early releases in their teens, they later issued their debut album ‘Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose’ through Mute Records, establishing a distinctive voice characterised by genre-fluid songwriting and expressive lyricism. Under the alias Du Blonde, they redefined their artistic direction through a series of self-produced albums that explore themes of identity, relationships and mental health, while embracing a more direct and confrontational sonic aesthetic. Their work has included collaborations with artists such as Shirley Manson, Andy Bell (Ride), Ezra Furman and members of Tunng, reflecting a practice rooted in collaboration and artistic reinvention across both music and visual media.
