Angels of Light

Angels of Light is an experimental collective formed by singer, songwriter and guitarist Michael Gira following the dissolution of the original itteration of Swans, serving as a distinct outlet for his evolving compositional approach. The project is built around a fluid roster of collaborators, including musicians such as Kid Congo Powers, Devendra Banhart, Akron/Family, Larry Mullins and Dana Schechter, contributing to a shifting ensemble sound that supports Gira’s songwriting vision. Angels of Light centres on acoustic guitar-based structures, stark lyrical imagery and a restrained, often folk-informed experimental palette.
