Bowery Electric
Bowery Electric were an American duo formed in New York by Lawrence Chandler and Martha Schwendener, known for a distinctive sound that merged ambient, electronic, minimalist and rock-based approaches with influences drawn from dub, hip-hop, soul and experimental club music. Emerging within the mid-1990s independent music landscape, they became associated with a form of American post-rock that integrated live instrumentation with early laptop, sampler and mixing techniques in performance. Their work has been widely recognised within discussions of shoegaze, electronic fusion and experimental rock for its enduring, genre-defying approach to composition and production.
