Bruce Gilbert

Bruce Gilbert is an English experimental musician and founding member of the art-punk band Wire.

With an art school background, he became associated with the early development of avant-garde and experimental noise music before co-founding Wire in the 1970s.

Alongside Graham Lewis, he pursued a series of collaborative projects including Dome, Cupol, P’o, and Duet Emmo, which explored ambient structures, found sound, and interdisciplinary performance, often presented in gallery contexts with visual and performative elements.

Gilbert has also released solo works focused on the possibilities of sound, contributed music for contemporary dance commissions, and performed as DJ Beekeeper.
