Chris Carter

Chris Carter is an English electronic musician, composer, and sound designer, and a founding member of Throbbing Gristle alongside Cosey Fanni Tutti, Peter Christopherson, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge. His work has played a significant role in the evolution of experimental and industrial electronic music, extending through collaborations such as Chris & Cosey, Carter Tutti, and Carter Tutti Void, as well as a range of solo and collaborative projects. Alongside his musical output, Carter has developed innovative sound technologies and instruments, including the Gristleizer and other custom-designed electronic systems, reflecting a practice that integrates composition, performance, and sonic engineering within experimental electronic music.
