Douglas McCarthy

Douglas McCarthy (1966 – 2025) was an English singer known for his distinctive voice and influential role in electronic body music and industrial-influenced electronic genres. He was the lead vocalist of Nitzer Ebb, formed in Essex in the early 1980s, where his performance style helped define the group’s stark, rhythm-driven sound. Beyond Nitzer Ebb, he collaborated with Terence Fixmer as Fixmer/McCarthy, with Cyrusrex as DJM/REX, and participated in the collective Blackline alongside Bon Harris and other collaborators. His wider work included a solo release, ‘Kill Your Friends’, and guest appearances with artists such as Recoil, Die Krupps, KLOQ, Client, Adult, and Reverse Commuter.
