Rowland S. Howard
Rowland S. Howard (1959 – 2009) was an Australian rock guitarist, songwriter and musician whose work helped define the sound of post-punk through his distinctive, discordant guitar style. He first gained attention with “Shivers,” written when he was 16, and went on to play with The Boys Next Door, who later evolved into The Birthday Party, before contributing to projects including Crime & the City Solution and These Immortal Souls. His career was marked by collaborations alongside solo work including ‘Teenage Snuff Film’ and ‘Pop Crimes’.
