Alexander Balanescu joins Mute Song—
Mute Song is thrilled to announce the signing of the Romanian violinist and composer Alexander Balanescu.
One of the world’s leading contemporary violinists and an influential voice in post-minimalist contemporary classical music, Balanescu has led the celebrated avant-garde string ensemble Balanescu Quartet since 1987.
During a long and varied career Balanescu has worked extensively in ballet, theatre and film and has worked closely with Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars, Kevin Volans, as well as musicians from varied musical fields such as John Lurie, David Byrne, Keith Tippett, Max Richter, Carla Bley, Rabih Abou Khalil, Spiritualized and the Pet Shop Boys.
