Ayse Hassan is a composer, musician, singer & co-founder, bass player and co-writer in critically acclaimed British post-punk band Savages who were nominated for two Mercury Prize awards, for their debut album ‘Silence Yourself’, and the sophomore release ‘Adore Life’.

Away from her work with Savages, Ayse is co-founder of the experimental electronic duo Kite Base (with fellow bassist Kendra Frost);  as well as the collaborative project 180db with fellow Savages member Fay Milton.

Ayse is now releasing music solo as Esya, an unsettling, beat-driven, and electronic exploration of alternate personas. Transgressing comfort zones by experimenting with the complex and contradictory ideas that can exist within one person, Esya is an industrial pop existential exploration.

To date, Esya has self-released three critically acclaimed EPs: ‘Absurdity Of Being’, ‘Absurdity Of ATCG (I)’, and ‘Absurdity Of ATCG (II) (Emergent Form)’. She has toured extensively with Algiers and has played live with Sharon Van Etten and Art School Girlfriend.

Esya was recently awarded the PRS momentum music fund to help her breakthrough to the next level of her career. She will be releasing her debut solo album in 2021.
