Beth Jeans Houghton is a precociously talented multi-disciplinary musician, composer, artist, animator and video director from Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Jeans Houghton started writing songs in their teens, releasing a series of singles and EP before they had reached their 20’s. Their debut album, “Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose” was released on Mute in 2012.
Described by the NME in 2008 as “a Joni Mitchell for the anti-folk generation”, Jeans Houghton continues to grow as an artist continually cultivating a sound that is truly their own.
Beth Jeans Houghton’s second album, ‘Welcome Back To Milk’ was their first as Du Blonde, and represented a complete reinvention: new name, new look, new band, new attitude – and attitude is a key word.
Du Blonde’s second album, ‘Lung Bread for Daddy’, was released in 2019 via Moshi Moshi. The album was the first to be produced by Houghton, taking a journey into relationships and mental health of the musician.
Du Blonde’s third album, ‘Homecoming’ (2021), was also self-produced by Houghton, and featured guest artists including Shirley Manson (Garbage), Andy Bell Ride), Ezra Furman, and members of Tunng.
