Like a scantily clad Creature from the Black Lagoon, Manhattan four-piece cumgirl8 has emerged from their primordial goo, resurrecting today in striking full colour. After coming of age with their introductory self-titled EP (2020), experiencing their own end with their “RIPcumgirl8” EP (2021), and witnessing a twisted vision of the afterlife through their first EP on 4AD “phantasea pharm” (2023), the band is now on the cusp of their “8th cumming” by way of their long-awaited debut LP of that name.

cumgirl8’s lore spans multiple genres, timelines, and dimensions, with members Veronika Vilim (guitar), Chase Lombardo (drums), Lida Fox (bass), and Avishag Rodrigues (guitar) traversing each complicated terrain since their meeting in an ancient sex chat with musical swiftness and a sharp tongue. A product of the experiences they’ve had across their many lives, their discography is a warped ‘coat of many colours,’ with their forthcoming record being no different.

While, to some, cumgirl8 is no more than a group of one-dimensional sex-toys and trolls on the Net, their record “8th cumming” proves that they are much more; specifically, that they are a badass, soundboard-wielding, and forward-thinking collective with an affinity for daring storytelling and musical mayhem. At the same time, cumgirl8 enters their new era with recognition for society’s quick judgment of sexually-forward, politically outspoken women who aim to spark change and occasionally ignite controversy in the name of societal progression. Even still, if their brazen lyricism, risqué stage costumes, and use of absurd Instagram memes provide entry into their utopian, modern feminist world, so be it.
