Formed in Leeds, Drahla are a post-punk, art-rock 3 piece made up of singer and guitarist Luciel Brown, bassist Rob Riggs and drummer Mike Ainsley.
Their music is uncompromising but deeply rewarding, where the internal and external, cerebral and visceral coalesce to quite startling effect. The bands interests lie in looking beyond the immediate to the abstract and indefinable. Brown’s lyrics are developed from observations, notes and poems, and the fragmented imagery is spliced together to disorientating effect.
The band self-released their debut EP, “Third Article”, in November 2017 to overwhelming critical praise.
After signing to Captured Tracks, they released the single “Twelve Divisions of the Day” in July 2018. Their debut album ‘Useless Coordinates’ is released on Captured Tracks in May 2019.
With some impressive support slots under their belt, touring Europe with Metz in 2017 and touring with Ought in 2018, the band have been headlining shows all over the world with with an extensive tour schedule. Drahla’s live show is exciting and uncompromising and not to be missed.
