Happy Families are a London-based electronic music duo consisting of singer, songwriter and artist Lucia Rivero and composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Lawrence Chandler (formerly of Bowery Electric).

Happy Families began as an alternative creative outlet for the pair who were working at the time in installation art and contemporary classical music. Rivero began experimenting with a microKORG and writing songs for the first time and Chandler revisited his penchant for making un-guitar-like sounds that could only be made with guitar. The result was “the kind of noise-blizzard that affects all five senses” (Paul Lester, The Guardian) along with the “head-meltingly blissful” (Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music).

Their debut single “New Forgetting” backed with a reworking of the Ramones “I Remember You” was released by Sonic Cathedral in July 2013 with an accompanying video directed by Rivero. The duo was featured in The Guardian’s New Band of the Day, NME’s Under the Radar, The 405, The Quietus and numerous blogs and ‘zines.
