Magazine

Magazine is a hugely influential English post-punk band formed in Manchester in the late 1970’s by Howard Devoto after his departure from Buzzcocks.

The bands debut single, “Shot By Both Sides” is widely acknowledged as a post-punk anthem and a classic song of the period and their debut album, ‘Real Life’ is often named in greatest albums of all time lists.

After ‘Real Life’, Magazine went on to release three further ground breaking studio albums (‘Secondhand Daylight (1979), ‘The Correct Use Of Soap’ (1980) & ‘Magic, Murder and the Weather’ (1981)), leaving behind an influential body of work before parting company in 1981.

In February 2009, Original members Howard Devoto, Dave Formula, Barry Adamson and John Doyle re-formed to play a handful of concerts. The shows were quickly sold out and received widespread critical acclaim, leading to further sold out shows across Europe. Although the re-union remains a live concern, Devoto has not ruled out the group trying out new material.
