Mick Harvey is multi-instrumentalist musician, composer, arranger and record producer from Melbourne, Australia. Since the late 1970’s, Harvey has enjoyed a highly successful career as a musical collaborator with singer/songwriter Nick Cave through their bands The Boys Next Door (’77-’79), the explosive The Birthday Party (’80-’83), and the formation and continuing brilliance of Cave’s Bad Seeds (’83-’09).
Concurrently with his work in the Bad Seeds, Harvey has also made time to forge his own creative path: releasing six albums with Crime And The City Solution (’85-’91), collaborating on records with PJ Harvey and Anita Lane amongst others, and releasing a number of critically acclaimed solo albums including 2005’s ‘One Man’s Treasure’, ‘Two of Diamonds’ (2007) and two albums of Serge Gainsbourg material translated into English (‘Intoxicated Man’ (1995) & ‘Pink Elephants’ (1997)).
Harvey is an accomplished film score composer, with credits including scores for ‘Chopper’ (dir. Andrew Dominik, 2000), ‘Australian Rules’ (dir. Paul Goldman, 2003) and ‘Suburban Mayhem’ (dir. Paul Goldman, 2006).
