Ossian Brown is an English artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist. A co-founder of Cyclobe in 1997, he was also a member of the electronic music group Coil until its cessation in 2004.

With Cyclobe he released a number of recordings, including soundtracks to three Super-8 films by the English filmmaker Derek Jarman – released as ‘Sulphur-Tarot-Garden’ in 2014 – and ‘Wounded Galaxies Tap at The Window’ in 2011. The filmmaker Lucille Hadžihalilović featured the opening track from this album (‘How Acla Disappears From Earth’) in her film ‘Evolution’ (2015).

In Cyclobe Brown’s UK live debut was held at Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of London’s Meltdown festival, performing with the singer/artist Anohni and incorporating films and visuals by David Larcher and the American artist Fred Tomaselli. Another notable performance was held in Norway at the invitation of Brian Eno.

In recent years Ossian Brown has worked intimately with the English folk singer Shirley Collins, contributing original work to her first album in 38 years, ‘Lodestar’ (2016), and to her most recent album ‘Heart’s Ease’ (2020), as well as performing live with her at London’s Barbican Theatre and the Brighton Dome. He has also composed music for the BBC Arena documentary ‘B-Catling’ (2020).

As a solo recording artist, Ossian Brown is currently working on new recordings exploring his deep interests in traditional acoustic instrumentation and synthesized sound.
